Obama Lifts Ban on Entry Into United States for HIV-Positive Travelers

On October 30, President Obama announced the end of a 22-year ban on travel to the United States for people who are HIV-positive. Obama shared that the ban was "rooted in fear rather than fact." "If we want to be a global leader in combating HIV/AIDS, we need to act like it," Obama said in a New York Times article. Mother Courage in Concert

On Monday October 19, over 300 people gathered at New York City’s Public Theater for Songs from Mother Courage and her Children, a concert that benefited AJWS and Partners in Health. This extraordinary evening was organized by Tony Kushner, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning playwright and dedicated AJWS supporter, and featured the talents of Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Daniel Craig, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Linda Emond, Mike Nichols, Austin Pendleton, Frederick Weller, and many others. AJWS thanks all involved in the production of this memorable event.
